Glymur Waterfall
Glymur is the one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland with 198 meters (only Morsárfoss in Vatnajokull glacier is around 30 meters taller). The waterfall is located in Hvalfjordur – The Whale Fjord just an hour drive from Reykjavik. The hike to Glymur takes about 2,5-3 hours and it is on of the most incredible day hikes close to Reykjavik.
In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel or designated bus stop downtown and we will head towards Hvalfjordur – The Whale Fjord. The name comes from an old icelandic legend about Raudhofdi, a whale with a red head. We will stop on the parking lot, starting a three hours hike. The hike along the river Botnsa to the waterfall takes about 1,5 hour, includes crossing the river on a wooden log and climbing the canyon wall. It ends by magnificent view platforms over the Glymur waterfall. On the top we will put the river shoes and cross the cold stream making memories for years. After that we will put our hiking boots on and hike down to the parking lot with the incredible view over Hvalfjordur. After reaching the bus we will start heading back to Reykjavik, where you will be dropped off to your hotel/bus stop around 16:00.
